Opportunities to Get Involved and Make a Difference
We require volunteers to undergo background checks to ensure the safety of all Club members. We encourage you to connect with the Club to find out what volunteer opportunities they have and where your time can make the biggest impact.
Groups who are interested in volunteering can reach out to Diana DeLeo, Director of Development, at 617-594-6268.

Mentor a Child:
Volunteers may choose one day per week to volunteer directly with our kids.
We recommend a one hour commitment for a minimum of eight weeks. Our Clubs are all located within Salem. Program areas include:
Education: Mon-Fri – 2:30-6pm
Offer one-on-one help to children in grades 1-6 in various academic areas—volunteers will implement activities like trivia contests, spelling bees, homework help and more.
Recreation: Mon-Fri – 2:30-6pm
Will work with Recreation Coordinator and Program staff to run daily tournaments that include pool, foosball, ping pong, etc.
Computer Assistant: Mon-Fri – 2:30-6pm
Volunteers will help members familiarize themselves with PC’s and their functions. The Club is equipped with new PC’s.
Sports: Mon-Fri – 2:30-6pm
Will work with Athletic Coordinator and Program staff to run daily gym games.
Basketball Coaching: November-March season
Coaching takes a special person who cares about youth and who can model teamwork, sportsmanship, and the joy of being involved in a positive, healthy activity. Please contact the Teen Club Director for more information.
Teen Nights: Mon-Fri – 6pm-9pm
Will work with Teen staff to implement teen appropriate activities, including help with Friday Night Field Trips and Dinner and a Movie Nights.
Volunteer Your Talent:
Development
Share your expertise in the areas of marketing, public relations, events, project management or fundraising to benefit the kids that need us the most.
Maintenance
Our Clubs are each used by hundreds of kids daily, and our equipment and facilities get extreme use by active kids. If you have a skill or an interest in this area, your help can save the Club dollars better spent on providing activities for youth, and you can help create an environment where members feel comfortable and at home. Includes: construction, painting, cleaning, grounds keeping, van repair, etc.
For more information about these volunteer opportunities please call our Development Office at 617-594-6268 or email ddeleo@bgcgs.org. Thank you for your interest in our kids and our Clubs!
