CONGRATULATIONS To Savannah, our Youth of the Year 2026
Savannah is our 2026 Youth of the Year. Savannah has been attending the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem since she was in the fourth grade and is now a Youth Development Professional (YDP) working in our Drop-In Afterschool Program. Savannah has experienced many of the Club’s offerings, participating in sports, cooking club, book club, and leadership clubs -Torch Club and Keystone and more. Not only does Savannah excel as a YDP at our Club, she is also active at Salem High School. She’s a member of the Tennis Team, Swim Team and competes in an acapella group of the Chorus.
Youth of the Year is the highest honor a young person can receive through the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). It recognizes outstanding leadership, service to the Club and community, academic achievement, and personal character.
Youth of the Year is more than an award—it’s a national leadership development program. It helps young people build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and amplify their voices as advocates for themselves and their peers. Teens selected at the Club level go on to compete at state, regional, and national levels. Finalists represent the very best of Boys & Girls Clubs across the country. Candidates are chosen based on: Academic excellence; Leadership within the Club and community; Healthy lifestyle choices and good character; Service to others; Personal growth and goals for the future.
